Zoo Day

Yesterday, we met up with some friends and went to the local zoo and spent the morning there.  Our children had a blast and it was great to catch up.  Even Sweetpea loved looking at all of the animals and watching Buddy and his friend run around.

By taking the time to bring Buddy and Sweetpea to the zoo, they have the opportunity to learn in a new setting.  We talked about different animals, colors, and the sounds that the animals make.  They also were able to feed the fish at the end of the day.  If you have older children, a visit to the zoo can be as information packed as you want.  Reading the placards for each animal and finding out new facts or a discussion on habitats would be ways to expand a zoo visit for older children.  I love turning fun activities into learning activities as well.

Here are a few pictures from our day.  Buddy is peaking through the fence at an animal.
 Looking at a puffer fish.
 Buddy and a pelican.
Sweetpea's face after she looked at the pelican!
Checking out the Bengal Tiger.  It came all the way up to the window which the children.
And of course, we had to ride the train.
